Real Estate Agent

Sharon Tompkins has an intuitive ability to find solutions to any challenge, particularly when it comes to matching people with the right Hamptons properties. She considers every real estate sale as a puzzle, and is adept at bringing all the pieces together to successful completion for her loyal clientele. Sharon has been coming to the Hamptons for many years from New York City where she lived until 1990 when she moved permanently to East Hampton. As a realtor, she delights in introducing clients who are new to the Hamptons, sharing the wonders and joys of the area with them. This long-term, patient appoach has been very successful for Sharon who believes that the more people know about the Hamptons the more confidently they are able to choose the right home to buy. It gives her great satisfaction to have her clientele feel comfortable with her guidance and low-key approach to selling homes.

One of the most interesting aspects of the real estate world is the variety of people and their life stories. Sharon is no exception. She grew up in Massachusetts in a large extended family of siblings and grandparents, all living in the same town. Walking to school and grandma's house was the norm in this small quiet town. Summers were spent at the shore in Newport, RI where her paternal grandmother was from. There Sharon learned to swim, sail, ride horses and show in local horseshows. The same grandmother took Sharon on many trips to New York City which sparked her determination to live there some day. After graduating from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY Sharon worked in retailing in Boston then joined PanAm as an airline hostess. For the next 5 years she flew around the world from San Francisco and New York. After all that fun it was time to be serious! The next choice was to earn a Master's in Speech Pathology from New York Unversity. For the next several years, Sharon worked with handicapped children in NYC and at North Shore University Hospital, becoming a supervisor in their pre-school program. In one of her many visits to East Hampton, Sharon met her future husband and moved there permanently in 1990. Her husband, a longtime New York City and East Hampton attorney, recommended Sharon become a real estate broker. He saw qualities in her that would be a good fit for the real estate business and it turns out he was exactly right. Now celebrating 20 years of marriage, they enjoy golf, sailing, spending time with their grandchildren and winter travel to Mexico.
