Of course, you may be too exhausted for much food prep after a long day swimming in and lounging by the 20X40 fully landscaped pool. Located about 50 feet from the house, the pool is a private oasis in the woods. Hawks, osprey and seagulls fly overhead as you float under a magnificent oak with branches soaring high above. Want to spread your own wings and go to the beach? Meschutt Beach on the Peconic Bay is 6 minutes away. Prefer the ocean? Cooper's Beach is a 10-minute drove, and Ponquogue Beach, in Hampton Bays, the owner's favorite, is 15 minutes. (And the view from the Ponquogue Bridge enroute to the beach is the best on Long Island.) Need to run to the grocery store or the surf shop? Hampton Bays and the village of Southampton are both 9-minute drives. Access to the Sunrise Highway is around the corner (and there's no traffic to get there!) If you need to go to a big box store, they're all 20 minutes away in Riverhead. Another 10 minutes and you're driving down sun-dappled roads on the North Fork, home to many Long Island wineries and old-fashioned farm stands.
